Its saturday morning and i am enjoying a nice cup of tea in my new abode in New York. These first two weeks have been great. Having my own kitchen has been and is GREAT! I will update you with all the exciting things you should try eating yourselves, including a endive salad with shallots, avocado and blood oranges, olive oil, lemon and red wine vinegar. I also have concluded that stir fry is the best invention ever. My new roomate and i have been getting along great. Shes really cool. She was born in Tawain and lived there for a bit and then moved to San Fransisco, Helsinki and now lives in Paris. She's in my program, so we both are little busy bee's but its been great. She bakes all the time which is very nice. Banana muffins anyone? (oh i should get caroline's recipee...caroline..?)
School has been great so far. My teachers seem really good. I"m taking 9 classes this semester, one more than last, but hopefully i'll be able to handle it this semester and i feel confident i will be able to. My creative process class has been really interesting so far. Our first assignment was to do a 3-minute presentation. yes.. a 3 minute presentation. The class is basically trying to get you to see things in a new way and be creative in an innovative way, its very open ended. For my presentation, i traced my body on a huge piece of paper, hung it up and then handed out tags with all of the different injuries. The tags read: age and then damage. So i called "age 5" and the person with that age raise their hand and i asked them to read the dam
age, and then i explain the story. Sadly enough everyone in the class got a tag. I had a ton of questions afterwords and now my teacher (who is amazing, i had him last term for typography!) constantly refers to me breaking and hopefully margaux won't break something. Otherwise, i have cut out 32 equilateral triangles and put together a tetrahedron, octahedron and icosahedron (20 sides) twice actually and a cube! good fun. Otherwise, my foundation class seems pretty good, i'll give you more information and show you my work when we really begin things. So far, the work hasn't been too bad. I've been doing my work as soon as i get it, so i have a ton of free time. The snow day helped too!
Otherwise, its really nice being back in the city, i've already been back to the moma (i went to see the painting section, which was SO exciting considering i new every artist from my creative arts class last semester! Katie aren't you excited!!) and back t
o some fun cafes and restaurants. The pictures posted near the waterfront were taken on my day off, on tuesday. The weather was so nice and i went out for four hours just walking by the piers. It takes 5 minutes to get down there from the school and its the most beautiful view (i dont know if you can see but on the city scape, you can see the statue of liberty!) Last night i went out with my friend Kelsey, Stephen and his boyfriend that i meet last week at his house part, David, who is adorable and really nice.. Dinner was lovely (check the MYSPACEEE picture underneatthhh yeaaaaaa) and my friend Jade is coming over to dins tonight and we're suppose to go out afterwards. I'll let you know how that goes.
Thats basically it. I'll try to blog as soon as possible! Keep me updated with your lives
bisous
